Penchalakona

Hi friends,
 On 5-6-2011 I went to spend my weekend at Penchalakona near Nellore.
It is a nice picnic spot as well as spirutual centre.

History

In the prehistoric days Lord Sri Vishnu killed Hiranyakasipa and he was moving around in the Forest, Goddess Sreedevi came in the disguise of ‘Chenchu’ tribe lady to calm down the anger of Lord Vishnu. She calms him down and hugs him (‘Penu chesukonuta’),so this temple(‘kshetra’) was named ‘Penusila’.Later on, as the days passed by the name changed to ‘Penchalakona’.This temple has lot of fame and is reputed as the ninth kshetra of Lord Vishnu.     Route Map  It is near by Nellore about 75 km. We started from Tirupathi, its about 115 km towards Nellore highway. On the way, at Yerpedu 35 km take left divertion to Venkatagiri 30 km. From there again take left towards Rapur 25 km. Beware not to take the straight route to Gudur.
